Sarah Rock v. Dog Daze of Charleston, LLC

Syllabus

Sarah Rock appeals the circuit court's order granting partial summary judgment to Respondents Dog Daze of Charleston and its owner, Charlie Freeman. The circuit court found that South Carolina law does not permit a claim for emotional distress damages when a person's pet dog is tortiously harmed. Because South Carolina recognizes pet dogs as personal property, we must affirm.
