Syllabus

<p>Poor laws — Settlement—Payment of taxes.</p> <p>Payment of taxes by the hand or procurement of the taxable is necessary to give him a settlement under the poor laws.</p> <p>Where payment has been made in this manner the poor laws do not inquire where or how the money was obtained by the taxpayer.</p>
