Syllabus
I. The subject of an indeterminate civil commitment petition does not have a constitutional right to self-representation in initial civil-commitment proceedings under Minnesota Statute Chapter 253D. II. The statutory right to effective assistance of counsel in civil-commitment proceedings is not subject to a structural-error analysis. Affirmed, motion denied.
