Syllabus
<p>SYLLABUS BY THE COURT.</p> <p>Municipal Corporations — Ordinance Invalid. Section 2499 of the General Statutes of 1901 requires that all city ordinances enacted under it shall impose as a penalty for their violation a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $500, and imprisonment for not less than thirty days nor more than six months, for each offense, and the payment of costs, and commitment until fine and costs are paid; and an ordinance depending for its authority upon that statute which, imposes as a penalty for its violation merely a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $500, and imprisonment for not less than thirty days nor more than ninety days, for each offense, is void.</p>
