Syllabus

The probate court did not err by finding appellee's consent was required before two of appellee's children could be adopted by appellants as appellee had justifiable cause for why she did not have contact with the children or provide maintenance and support to the children in the year immediately preceding when appellants filed their adoption petitions. This included, for instance, appellee's medical and mental disorders for which she had been receiving both inpatient and outpatient treatment throughout the requisite one year look-back period.
