<p>Hamlets were municipal corporations until code of 1902 — Thereafter they became villages — If with population of less than 5,000.</p> <p>Hamlets in existence at the time the municipal code of 1902 went into effect were municipal corporations, and thereafter, if' they had a population of less than 5,000 at the last federal census, they are villages; and a street railway company is without authority to construct its road on or above their-streets or roads without their consent.</p>
