Syllabus

<p>1. On appeal and certiorari, under tbe act oí May 9, 1889, P. L. 158, from the refusal of tbe Court of Quarter Sessions to order tbe absolute forfeiture of a recognizance to be stricken off, tbe Supreme Court cannot-go behind the record to inquire into tbe merits of the proceeding.</p> <p>2. No appeal is given by statute, in such, cases: Bross v. Commonwealth, 71 Pa. 262. Except on the common-law certiorari, the Supreme Court has no jurisdiction to review the order of the Court of Quarter Sessions, and that writ brings up for review nothing except the record proper.</p>
