Syllabus

<p>Mortgages. Cancellation of record. Code 1892, ? 2451. Penalty. Statutory construction.</p> <p>Code 1892, § 2451, in so far as it gives a penalty for failure, on request, to cancel on the record thereof mortgages which have been satisfied, must be strictly construed, and a plaintiff cannot recover thereunder unless he bring his case within the literal terms of the statute.</p>
