<p>New Orleans — Statutes of Louisiana.</p> <p>In the absence of fraud, a compromise made between the city authorities of New Orleans and a railroad company, respecting a disputed grant of a user of part of the city property, known as the Batture, for railroad purposes, was sustained, as authorized by the laws of Louisiana. Under the statutes of that State, the city authorities had the right to make the compromise at the time it was made, and it remained valid, notwithstanding the powers conferred upon the board of liquidation of the city debt of New Orleans, by the legislature.</p>
