<p>Street Railways — Accidents at Crossings — Contributory Negligence — Evidence—Sufficiency. A pedestrian struck by a street ear at a crossing, is guilty of contributory negligence, as a matter of law, where, before leaving the curb, he looked up the street and saw the car approaching about four hundred and fifty feet away, with its headlight burning, and proceeded to pick his way across the muddy street, going upon the tracks without again looking, although the car may have been exceeding the speed limit.</p>
