Abdullahi Aden Ibrahim v. State of Minnesota

Syllabus

For a defendant's guilty plea to first-degree assault to be accurate, the defendant must either expressly admit to causing great bodily harm under Minnesota Statutes section 609.02, subdivision 8 (2018), or expressly acknowledge evidence in the record that would allow the district court to infer that the defendant had caused the victim to suffer great bodily harm. Affirmed in part, reversed in part, and remanded.
