Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) 50, Notification of Proposed Production
Activity; Sanyo Denki America, Inc.; (Cooling, Servo, and Power Systems
and Assemblies); Torrance, California
Sanyo Denki America, Inc. submitted a notification of proposed
production activity to the FTZ Board (the Board) for its facilities in
Torrance, California, within FTZ 50. The notification conforming to the
requirements of the Board's regulations (15 CFR 400.22) was received on
September 24, 2026.
Pursuant to 15 CFR 400.14(b), FTZ production activity would be
limited to the specific foreign-status material(s)/component(s) and
specific finished product(s) described in the submitted notification
(summarized below) and subsequently authorized by the Board. The
benefits that may stem from conducting production activity under FTZ
procedures are explained in the background section of the Board's
website--accessible via <a href="http://www.trade.gov/ftz">www.trade.gov/ftz</a>.
The proposed finished products include: various rails (mounting
support; magnetic); various fans (axial; centrifugal); various
assemblies (fan; printed circuit; electric motor); filter kits for
fans; stepper motors with output not exceeding 37.5 watts; alternating
current motors with output exceeding 18.65 watts but not exceeding 37.5
watts; motors with output not exceeding 750 watts; amplifiers; static
converters; lithium-ion batteries; battery packs; battery cases;
distribution boards for voltage not exceeding 1,000 volts; circuit
breakers; and, insulated electric conductors (duty rate ranges from
duty-free to 5.7%).
The proposed foreign-status materials/components include: plastic
components (inverter cabinets; power stands; housings); printed
catalogs; stainless steel components (screws; machine frames; cooling
manifolds; nozzles; motor shafts; motor bearings); steel components
(wire; mounting brackets; clips; finger guards; heat sinks; housings;
bases; guide rails; carriages; spindle housings; protective guards;
bearings; shafts; motor frames); iron mounting brackets; copper
components (anchor brackets; electrical connections; motor coils;
connectors); various fans (axial; blower and centrifugal; cooling);
aluminum fan blades; liquid cooling fan systems; filters (fan; noise);
brass nozzles; cables (connection; electrical); servo motors with power
output from 18.65 watts to 37.5 watts; DC stepper motors with power
output to 37.5 watts; servo motors with power output to 1k watts and
up; single linear motors; generators; magnetic linear rails motor
stators; motor rotors; AC/DC drivers; wiring harnesses; USBs; static
amplifiers; power converters; static converter battery packs; permanent
magnets; lithium-ion batteries; dry contacts; smart card storage
devices; resistors for power handling capacity; wire wound variable
resistors; sensors (temperature; humidity); receptacle boxes;
controllers (programmable logic; electrical); power conditioners;
electrical plastic boards; contact interface cards; fan motor
integrated circuits; insulated plastic connector fittings; training and
demonstration equipment for industrial motor control and automation
systems; tachometers; airflow testers; and, carbon brushes for motors
(duty rate ranges from duty-free to 8.5%).
The request indicates that certain materials/components are subject
to duties under section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, or
section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, depending on the country of
origin. The applicable section 232, and section 301 decisions require
subject merchandise to be admitted to FTZs in privileged foreign status
(19 CFR 146.41).
Public comment is invited from interested parties. Submissions
shall be addressed to the Board's Executive Secretary and sent to:

2026.

in the ``Online FTZ Information System'' section of the Board's
website.
