Hawks Nest Hydro, LLC; Notice of Availability of Environmental
Assessment
In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969
and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (Commission or FERC)
regulations, 18 CFR part 380, Commission staff reviewed Hawks Nest
Hydro, LLC's, application for a non-capacity amendment of license for
the Hawks Nest Project No. 2512, and have prepared an Environmental
Assessment (EA) for the project.\1\ The licensee proposes to modernize
the project to allow for the sale of power directly to the regional
electric grid. The project is located on the New River in Fayette
County, West Virginia, and does not occupy any federal lands.

The EA contains Commission staff's analysis of the potential
environmental effects of the proposed modernization, alternatives to
the proposed action, and concludes that the proposed modernization
would not constitute a major federal action that would significantly
affect the quality of the human environment.
