AGENCY: Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
ACTION: Notice of submission to the Office of Management and Budget;
request for comment.

SUMMARY: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has recently
submitted a request for renewal of an existing collection of
information to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review.
The information collection is entitled, NRC Form 237, ``Request for
Access Authorization.''
DATES: Submit comments by May 4, 2026. Comments received after this
date will be considered if it is practical to do so, but the Commission
is able to ensure consideration only for comments received on or before
this date.

Written comments and recommendations for the proposed information
collection should be sent within 30 days of publication of this notice

The NRC cautions you not to include identifying or contact
information in comment submissions that you do not want to be publicly
disclosed in your comment submission. All comment submissions are
posted at <a href="https://www.regulations.gov">https://www.regulations.gov</a> and entered into ADAMS. Comment
submissions are not routinely edited to remove identifying or contact

II. Background
Under the provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44
U.S.C. Chapter 35), the NRC recently submitted a request for renewal of
an existing collection of information to OMB for review entitled, NRC
Form 237, ``Request for Access Authorization.'' The NRC hereby informs
potential respondents that an agency may not conduct or sponsor, and
that a person is not required to respond to, a collection of
information unless it displays a currently valid OMB control number.
The NRC published a Federal Register notice with a 60-day comment
period on this information collection on December 11, 2025, 90 FR
57493.

1. The title of the information collection: NRC Form 237, Request
for Access Authorization.
2. OMB approval number: 3150-0050.
3. Type of submission: Extension.
4. The form number, if applicable: NRC Form 237.
5. How often the collection is required or requested: Required with
every submission for access authorization, access to special nuclear
material, or access to classified information.
6. Who will be required or asked to respond: NRC contractors,
subcontractors, licensee employees, employees of other government
agencies, and other individuals who are not NRC employees who require
NRC access authorization.
7. The estimated number of annual responses: 922.
8. The estimated number of annual respondents: 77.
9. The estimated number of hours needed annually to comply with the
information collection requirement or request: 184.
10. Abstract: A completed NRC Form 237 is required to obtain or
renew access to special nuclear material (title 10 of the Code of
Federal Regulations (10 CFR), paragraphs 11.15(a)(2) and (c)(1)) for
classified information; (10 CFR 25.17(c) and 25.21(c)(1) and (2) for
licensee personnel.) It is also used to request NRC access
authorizations for personnel of NRC contractors, subcontractors, or
other individuals who are not applicants for employment with NRC.
