Abstract

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has received an application for the renewal of Facility Operating License No. DPR-23, which authorizes Duke Energy Progress, LLC (Duke, the applicant) to operate H.B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant (Robinson), Unit 2. The renewed license would authorize the applicant to operate Robinson, Unit 2, for an additional 20 years beyond the period specified in the current license. The current operating license for Robinson, Unit 2, expires July 31, 2030.

AGENCY: Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

ACTION: Notice; receipt.

SUMMARY: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has received an 
application for the renewal of Facility Operating License No. DPR-23, 
which authorizes Duke Energy Progress, LLC (Duke, the applicant) to 
operate H.B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant (Robinson), Unit 2. The 
renewed license would authorize the applicant to operate Robinson, Unit 
2, for an additional 20 years beyond the period specified in the 
current license. The current operating license for Robinson, Unit 2, 
expires July 31, 2030.

DATES: The subsequent license renewal application referenced in this 
document is available on April 21, 2025.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The NRC has received an application from 
Duke, dated April 1, 2025 (ADAMS Package Accession No. ML25091A290) 
filed pursuant to section 103 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as 
amended, and part 54 of title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, 
``Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power 
Plants,'' to renew the operating license for Robinson, Unit 2. Renewal 
of the license would authorize the applicant to operate the facility 
for an additional 20-year period beyond the period specified in the 
current operating license. Robinson, Unit 2, is a pressurized water 
reactor located near Hartsville, SC. The acceptability of the tendered 
application for docketing, and other matters, including an opportunity 
to request a hearing, will be the subject of subsequent Federal 
Register notices.
    A copy of the subsequent license renewal application for Robinson, 
Unit 2, is also available to local residents near the site at the 
following public library: Hartsville Memorial Public Library, 147 West 
College Avenue in Hartsville, SC 29550.
