Request for Nominations for the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove

AGENCY: National Park Service, Interior.
ACTION: Request for nominations.

SUMMARY: The National Park Service (NPS), U.S. Department of the
Interior, is requesting nominations for qualified persons to serve as
members on the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park
Advisory Commission (Commission).
DATES: Written nominations must be received by September 23, 2024.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Commission was established in accordance
with the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park Act of
2002 (16 U.S.C. 410iii-7). The Commission was designated by Congress to
provide advice to the Secretary of the Interior on the preparation and
implementation of the park's general management plan and in the
identification of sites of significance outside the park boundary.
The Commission consists of 15 members appointed by the Secretary,
as follows:
(a) 1 representative from the Commonwealth of Virginia; (b) 1
representative each from the local governments of Strasburg,
Middletown, Frederick County, Shenandoah County, and Warren County; (c)
2 representatives of private landowners within the Park; (d) 1
representative from a citizen interest group; (e) 1 representative from
the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation; (f) 1 representative from the
Belle Grove, Incorporated;
(g) 1 representative from the National Trust for Historic
Preservation; (h) 1 representative from the Shenandoah Valley
Battlefields Foundation; (i) 1 ex-officio representative from the
National Park Service; and (j) 1 ex-officio representative from the
United States Forest Service. Alternate members may be appointed to the
Commission.
We are currently seeking primary and alternate members to represent
Belle Grove, Inc., the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation, the
Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation, the Town of Strasburg, and
Warren County.
Each member shall be appointed for a term of three years and may be
reappointed for not more than two successive terms. A member may serve
after the expiration of that member's term until a successor has been
appointed. The Chairperson of the Commission shall be elected by the
members to serve a term of one-year renewable for one additional year.
Nominations should be typed and should include a resume providing
an adequate description of the nominee's

qualifications, including information that would enable the Department
of the Interior to make an informed decision regarding meeting the
membership requirements of the Commission and permit the Department to
contact a potential member.
Members of the Commission serve without compensation. However,
while away from their homes or regular places of business in the
performance of services for the Commission as approved by the NPS,
members may be allowed travel expenses, including per diem in lieu of
subsistence, in the same manner as persons employed intermittently in
Government service are allowed such expenses under 5 U.S.C. 5703.
