AGENCY: Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
ACTION: Notice and request for comment.

SUMMARY: In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA),
the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) requests the extension
of the Office of Management and Budget's (OMB's) approval for an
existing information collection titled ``State Official Notification
Rule'' approved under OMB Control Number 3170-0019.
DATES: Written comments are encouraged and must be received on or
before September 19, 2024 to be assured of consideration.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
Title of Collection: State Official Notification Rule.
OMB Control Number: 3170-0019.
Type of Review: Extension without change of an existing information
collection.
Affected Public: State and local governments.
Estimated Number of Respondents: 3.
Estimated Total Annual Burden Hour: 2.
Abstract: Section 1042 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and
Consumer Protection Act \1\ (the Act), gave authority to certain State
and U.S. territorial officials to enforce the Act and regulations
prescribed thereunder. Section 1042 also requires that the CFPB issue a
rule establishing how States are to provide notice to the CFPB before
taking action to enforce the Act or (in emergency situations)
immediately after taking such an action. In accordance with the
requirements of the Act, 12 CFR 1082.1 establishes that notice should
be provided at least 10 days before the filing of an action, with
certain exceptions, and setting forth a limited set of information
which is to be provided with the notice.

Request for Comments: The CFPB published a 60-day Federal Register
notice on June 4, 2024 (89 FR 47921) under Docket Number: CFPB-2024-
0022. The CFPB is publishing this notice and soliciting comments on:
(a) Whether the collection of information is necessary for the proper
performance of the functions of the CFPB, including whether the
information will have practical utility; (b) The accuracy of the CFPB's
estimate of the burden of the collection of information, including the
validity of the methods and the assumptions used; (c) Ways to enhance
the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected;
and (d) Ways to minimize the burden of the collection of information on
respondents, including through the use of automated collection
techniques or other forms of information technology. Comments submitted
in response to this notice will be reviewed by OMB as part of its
review of this request. All comments will become a matter of public
record.
