Abstract

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, conducts a preclearance consultation program to provide the general public and Federal agencies with an opportunity to comment on proposed and/or continuing collections of information in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. This program helps to ensure the requested data can be provided in the desired format, reporting burden (time and financial resources) is minimized, collection instruments are clearly understood, and the impact of collection requirements on respondents can be properly assessed. Currently, the NEA is soliciting comments concerning the proposed information collection on arts participation in the U.S.: Clearance Request for NEA 2022 Survey of Public Participation in the Arts. Copies of this ICR, with applicable supporting documentation, may be obtained by visiting www.Reginfo.gov.

1992, 1997, 2002, 2008, 2012, and 2017, all of which were conducted by

publicly available on the NEA's website. The data will be made
available to the public through the agency's data archive, the National
Archive of Data on Arts and Culture (NADAC). The SPPA will provide
primary knowledge on the extent and nature of participation in the arts
